History

Lalu Prasad Yadav was Chief Minister of Bihar from 1990 to 1997; his wife Rabri Devi succeeded him until 2005. The RJD has been part of various coalition governments in Bihar with the Congress and JD(U). In 2020 the party emerged as the single largest in the Bihar Assembly.
