Jammu & Kashmir National Conference
The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference is the oldest political party in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Founded in 1939, it has played a central role in J&K's politics for nearly nine decades.
Ideology
History
The party led the government of J&K under Sheikh Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah at various points. After the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 and the bifurcation of the state, the NC returned to power in the J&K assembly elections of 2024 under Omar Abdullah.
Political positions
Restoration of statehood, restoration of Article 370 protections, secularism, dialogue on Kashmir, and welfare-led governance.
